#5: Never forget your high school experience. Cherish the last moments of it, always remember the friends you made in high school, because soon enough, you'll never see them every day ever again. Cue Vitamin C's "Graduation". Whatever you may probably think now (trust me, I'm thinking about this too), getting ready and excited for college and the time away from your family and the city you've lived in for the past 17 years to have a fresh start and study the profession of your dreams, it's gonna be a complete 180 from anything you've ever lived with for the past 17 years. You're going to be a fresh face in a new city that you've probably never lived in before and meeting new friends that you're going to be spending the next 4-5 years with. It sounds like a really fun experience, no joke. But, don't rush yourself to leave yet. You still have to graduate high school. And, you have to make the most of your high school experience before it all disappears. You won't see your best friends every day anymore unless they go to the same school as you, so you won't always have that friend that will comfort you with affection and make you laugh. Okay, now I've turned into a sap. But, I've been thinking about this for the past week or so because yeah, I love my friends and I'm sad that I can't spend more time with them because I'm too busy or they're busy. And just thinking about this makes it sadder because when I go off to college then I'll know I want to see them but I can't because they'll be away in their college. So, there's my advice. You're only a high schooler once. Once college hits, independence hits. So, enjoy high school right now. Enjoy hanging out with people you've been best friends with for the past four years. Enjoy cheering for your friends when they play sports. Enjoy dressing up for "The Night to Remember". Enjoy home cooked meals, too. LOL.
Kay guys, that wraps up my senior year advice FOR SURE. I am not discouraging any form of getting excited for college. (Especially not the acceptances, because you can get pathetically excited for those and I'll be all for it.) Enjoy the rest of you high school half-a-year, and I'll be back to talk about graduation!
Love always, Bea
